Welcome to the Ruth Wyld web site. Cake decorating has been Ruth Wyld's passion for over 20 years. During that time she has developed a nationwide reputation as designer, maker, writer and teacher in all aspects of sugarcraft. Winner of numerous gold medals, trophies and awards covering sugarpaste, flowers, royal icing and marzipan modelling, her work has been widely exhibited including the prestigious Royal Sugar Sculpture - 600 years of sugar splendour at the Bowes Museum in Co Durham and the Taste of Art exhibition. |
As a teacher she has taught a wide range of sugarcraft courses to examination level, including City & Guilds at North Lindsey College (Scunthorpe) and written a series of sugarcraft courses for the Open College Network. Her proudest moment - came in 2003 when she was awarded a rare "High Commendation" for Teaching and Learning by City and Guilds as part of their Medals for Excellence and a combined display of her students' work won "Best College in Show" at the Cake Craft and Decoration Show - N.E.C. Birmingham. She is also Regional Verifier for City & Guilds - Sugarcraft As a writer she is a regular contributor for the Cake Craft and Decoration Magazine producing articles for children, beginners and the more advanced professionals. Ruth has also demonstrated in the theatre at the annual International Cake Craft and Decoration Show held each year at the N.E.C. Birmingham as well as on the various magazine and trade stands. |
In
2008 she was honoured to be asked to be one of the sugarcraft judges at
Le Salon Culinaire International de Londres, Hotelympia where over 720
awards were presented over the five days of the show. |
This
year will also be a very busy year for Ruth as she has many demonstrations
and workshops booked all over the country to Sugarcraft Guilds / Clubs
sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with many like minded crafts people.

Ruth Wyld uses sugar as other artists would use paint or sculptural materials to design and craft very special cakes for all occasions. She is also available for private tuition for groups or individuals and for workshops and demonstrations.
